YOUR UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION EXPLAINED

Hey, my name is BECCY

Thank you soooo much for trusting me with this session. I’m so bloody happy you booked and so excited to capture this for you.
If you’re feeling nervous about being underwater, that’s completely normal. These sessions can be as easy or challenging as you want them to be. You don’t need to know how to pose or hold your breath for ages.
We’ll have a play, take everything at your pace and see what works for you. If something doesn’t feel right, we simply move on and try something else.
I’ll guide you through the whole thing. This little guide covers everything you need to know before the day, but if I’ve missed anything, just ask me. X

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW
1 HOUR
How long we’ll have together
A FEW SECONDS
Is all we need underwater to get the shot
ZERO EXPERIENCE
You don’t need any underwater or modelling experience
YOUR PACE
We make the session as easy or challenging as feels good for you

“YOU DON’T NEED TO KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DOING. THAT’S MY JOB. JUST COME, HAVE A PLAY AND TRUST THE PROCESS.”

HOW THE DAY WILL RUN
If you’ve chosen to include some above-water photos, we’ll start around the pool and capture some beautiful shots before we get in.
These can be nude, in togs, clothing or whatever you’re feeling on the day. We can have a play and get a nice little mixture.

01. ABOVE THE WATER

Next we’ll get you into the pool and ease into things. I’ll start by photographing you from outside the water while you’re in the pool, which creates some really dreamy perspectives and gives you a chance to get comfortable in the water first.

02. INTO THE POOL

Then I’ll pop my camera into its underwater housing, jump in with you and this is where the real fun starts.
We’ll try different poses and ideas, some super simple and some a little more challenging. If something works, amazing. If it doesn’t feel good or just isn’t working for you, we move on. There are SO many things we can do and sometimes the simplest poses create the most epic images.
You can be nude, wear togs, bring clothing or fabric, or we can do a mixture of everything.

03. UNDERWATER MAGIC

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE

ARRIVE 5 MINUTES EARLY
Please arrive around 5 minutes before your session so we can get started on time. I’m often photographing a few mummas on the same day, so unfortunately I can’t extend your session if you arrive late. X
COME IN LOOSE CLOTHING
Try not to wear tight underwear, bras, track pants, socks or clothing before your session as they can leave marks on your skin. Loose and comfy is perfect.
SKIP THE FAKE TAN
If you can, please avoid fake tan before your session. It can photograph quite patchy underwater and is bloody hard to edit. If you already have tan on, don’t panic, just be aware that uneven tan can be quite noticeable underwater.
EAT + HYDRATE
Please have something to eat beforehand and come hydrated. Underwater posing can be surprisingly tiring, especially while pregnant.

FINDING ME
23 Thornton Road, Bli Bli
There’s street parking available, or if there’s a free space in the driveway you’re welcome to park there.
Come through the front door of the house, head down the hallway and down the stairs. I’ll be outside by the pool waiting for you :)
After your session there’s a shower inside that you’re welcome to use to rinse off and freshen up before heading home.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
A towel
Togs or clothing if you’d like to wear them
Any fabric, flowers, shells or props you want to play with
And if you want to shoot completely nude, that's absolutely fine too. You don't need to bring outfits just for the sake of it.

ALL THE OTHER THINGS YOU MIGHT BE WONDERING...

HOW LONG WILL MY SESSION GO FOR?
I allow around an hour for your session. We’ll take our time, have little breaks when needed and work through as much as we comfortably can within that time.
DO I NEED TO WEAR MAKEUP OR DO MY HAIR?
Totally personal preference. We usually take a few photos before you go completely underwater, so if you want to do your hair and makeup you absolutely can. But honestly, there’s no need. It’s very relaxed pool/ocean vibes, so come however you feel best.
WHAT KIND OF POSES WILL WE DO?
It completely depends on you.
We’ll try lots of different things, from really simple floaty poses to things that take a little more breath control or body awareness. I’ll guide you through everything and demonstrate things when needed.
Some things might work beautifully for you and others might feel bloody impossible haha. That's completely normal. We just move on and try something else.
WHAT IF I CAN'T HOLD MY BREATH FOR LONG?
You absolutely don't need to!
You'd be surprised what we can capture in just a few seconds underwater. If going completely under isn't feeling good on the day, we can also create gorgeous surface-level images.
DO I BRING MY OWN PROPS?
Yep!! I’ll bring a large white sheet, which you might have seen floating around in the background of some of my shoots, plus a few different bits of material we can play with in the water.
If there’s something specific you’d love to include though, please bring it along. Flowers, shells, a particular piece of fabric or anything else you have in mind.
You definitely don’t need to bring props, but if you have an idea, I’m always keen to have a play and see what we can create. X
IS THE SESSION DIFFICULT?
It can be as easy or as challenging as you want it to be.
Some mummas say it feels a little like a workout afterwards because you're using muscles differently in the water. Other people find it really cruisy.
There's no level you need to reach. We work with what your body feels like doing on the day.
IS THE WATER COLD?
Nope! The pool is heated and magnesium-based and feels bloody lovely.
Mummas often don't want to get out at the end haha.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE WEATHER IS BAD?
One of the best things about shooting in the pool is that we aren't relying on perfect weather or ocean conditions.
Unless there's a thunderstorm or really heavy rain, we can generally go ahead. I'll keep an eye on everything and let you know if anything needs to change.
CAN I BRING MY PARTNER OR CHILDREN?
Absolutely. Your partner and children are more than welcome to be included in some photos.
If you're bringing a little one who can't swim independently, please bring another adult who can look after them while I'm photographing you alone.
You're also welcome to bring someone just for moral support.
DO I NEED TO SHAVE OR WAX IF I'M SHOOTING NUDE?
Completely up to you.
Most images aren't super front-on in that area, but occasionally there can be some visibility. Do whatever makes you feel comfortable. There is absolutely no expectation either way.
WILL YOU PHOTOSHOP MY BODY?
I edit skin tones, colours, clarity and little distractions like flyaway hairs or things in the background.
I don't heavily change bodies or make you look like someone else. If there's something specific you'd like removed or edited, like a bruise, scar or tattoo, just let me know.
WHEN WILL I GET MY PHOTOS?
Your finished gallery will be delivered online within 3 to 5 weeks after your session.
WILL YOU SHARE MY PHOTOS ONLINE?
Only if you're okay with it :)
I'll check with you before sharing your images and won't post anything without your approval.
YOU'RE READY <3
Come as you are, don't overthink it and don't feel like you need to practise anything beforehand.
We'll have a play, see what your body feels comfortable doing on the day and create something bloody beautiful together.
I CAN'T WAIT. X
